Full Description
Late Iron Age/early Roman ditch with a dark fill and a seam of gravel along its western edge, the fill of which was flecked with charcoal and daub and contained tile, iron objects, animal bone, pottery, slag and burnt flint. The feature was 650mm deep and at the base the fill became wetter when nearing the water table. It was dated by the 1st century pottery retrieved from the fill and is thought to be a field ditch or property boundary ditch.<1>
