Full Description

A hearth (Colchester Archaeological Trust BF820) which contained a military strap fitting, was concealed beneath the earliest metalling of the street between Barrack Block 1 and 2. It was thought that the hearth together with associated occupation debris were likely to have derived from the construction phase of the barracks.<1>
