Full Description

An evaluation by two trial-trenches at 4 St Peter's Street Colchester, Essex located a mortar floor at 1.5m below present ground. The associated dating evidence is not conclusive: the floor could be medieval or Roman. Fragments of a medieval louver suggests that a high status medieval house stood nearby. Pottery of 13th-15th century date and Roman tesserae fragments were recovered <1>
