Full Description

Limestone block 14x14x46 " from a monumental tomb; on the two sockets for clamps to tie it to the next stone. Found in 1849 in John Taylors's grounds at West Lodge, 50 yards south of Lexden Road and 40yards west of Beverley Road. Now in Colchester Museum. Reads 'To the spirits of the departed and of Aurel...aged...' <1>
