Full Description
In March 1999, Lexden Restorations Ltd commissioned the Colchester Archaeological Trust to maintain an archaeological watching brief on redevelopments at The Lindens 139 Lexden Road. Twenty one features were recovered including 18 pits with associated with finds and one north-south ditch. 12kg of Late Iron Age -Early Roman pottery was recovered from these pits (with one post medieval sherd). Two features contained Roman building material, two brick fragments and an imbrex fragment. Eleven pieces of animal bone from a late Iron Age or Early Romano-British ditch and pit. <1><2>
