Full Description

Complex sequence of Roman floors with little additional structural evidence other than a timber wall slot and hearth represented by 15cm of compacted burnt clay with a burnt tile on the top (60cm wide), which lay at a depth of 95cm from the ground level. This feature was discovered at a higher level than any of the floor levels at the site but it was thought this could be due to the tile resting on top, protecting the area from damage by agricultural activity.<1>
