Full Description

A watching brief was held during the excavation of foundation trenches for an extension to the Nat West bank building, 12-13 High Street. Two phases of a north-south Roman street was clearly visible. There appeared to be a drain running east-west across both the upper and lower street phases. These ran east west across the Road and appeared to be open. The lower road surface also had an east west feature cutting it in a similar position (could be water pipe trenches).<1>
