Full Description

Chapman and Andrew (1777) mark a windmill just south of 'An Oil Mill' driven by water, the later generally known as the Distillery Mill or Hull Mill in the 19th century. An engraving of a view of Colchester, taken from the north and published in Morant (1748) shows a windmill of indeterminate type on the skyline, evidently in the same location.<1><2>
