Full Description

An archaeological evaluation was carried out on a site between the former Ship Public House and 3 East Hill. A modern wall at the southern end of the site appeared to sit on an earlier wall and a trench was dug to examine its extent. No trace was seen and it is now assumed to have been the remains of a ?16th-18th century footing for a timber framed building of reused Roman material and peg-tile.<1>
