Full Description
During excavations ahead of construction on the Telephone Exchange Site in 1950 (ECC872), the remains of what was believed to have been a Roman footway were found along the west side of a north-south road (MCC2363). Evidence for the footway consisted of two layers of muddy earth. Unfortunately, their relationship with the road could not be determined because of a later pit.<1>
