Full Description

The temple precinct associated with a Romano-British Temple building (MCC1959) at Colchester Royal Grammar School. The area of the enclosure was initially surrounded by a polygonal ditch. The ditch was 3ft. deep and had a entrance on the east side. This was later enclosed by a wall built to avoid the ditch. The wall had an entrance on the east side which corresponded with the break in the earlier ditch. Hull suggested that the ditch was a palisade slot. Within the area of the precinct, two circular pits were found in addition to a rectangular building (MCC1968) which Hull suggested was an assembly hall.<1><2>
