Full Description
A robbed-out Roman wall discovered during excavations (ECC812) on land acquired for the Eastern National Bus Depot in 1931. The wall-slot was 2ft. 6in wide and situated 6ft. 6in. below the surface. It ran in an east-west direction. The masonry foundations remained in the bottom, covered by loose rubble. South of the wall a mortar floor extended of 8ft. which may have originally held a tessellated pavement.<1>
