Full Description

An early Roman pit and later post hole were discovered during excavations (ECC812) on land acquired for the Eastern National Bus Depot in 193. The pit was situated beneath a tessellated pavement (MCC1869) and was 12ft. deep and 5ft. 6in. wide. The post hole was 2ft. 3in. deep and filled with small holes. It was dug into the daub demolition debris of earlier buildings.<1>
