Full Description

A Roman pottery kiln situated on the south bank of the River Colne to the north of Sheepen and adjacent to an early Romano-Celtic temple (MCC1777). The kiln was one of two which were producing imitations of Gallo-Belgic wares. The kiln had a floor supported on wooden piles encased in clay. It was smaller than the other kiln (MCC1815).<1>
