Full Description

A Roman wall was discovered during the excavation of a sewer trench on the Queen Street Bus Station site in 1958/9 (ECC1523). The wall was well preserved, 2 ft. 9in, thick and very solidly built of tile and septaria. A drain (MCC1703) ran through the tile course. To the north of the wall were the remains of an opus signinum floor bounded on its north side by another wall (MCC1707). These walls, floor and drain may have belonged to 'House II' (MCC1701) which was discovered during excavations on the site in 1955 (ECC667).<1>
