Full Description
A robbed-out Roman wall discovered during the excavation of a sewer trench on the Queen Street Bus Station site in 1958/9 (ECC1523). The wall was represented by a robber-trench filled with daub, 'indicating a wall of light construction, about 1ft. 6in. thick and mainly of wattle and daub.' The wall was situated 11ft. to the south of another east-west wall (MCC1704) and between the two walls was a tessellated pavement (MCC1705). South of the wall was a floor of opus signinum and to the south of that was another wall (ECC1709). The walls, pavement and floor may have belonged to 'House II' (MCC1701) which was discovered during excavations on the site in 1955 (see ECC667).<1>
