Full Description

A Roman wall foundation discovered during excavations at the Lewis's Garden Site in 1958 (ECC669). The foundation ran northwards from the north-east corner of a building (MCC1691). The relationship of the wall to this building is uncertain. The foundations of the wall were 2ft. 6in. wide and had been built of septaria and mortar. The footings of two buttresses were also recovered.<1>
