Full Description

In the garden of 18 North Hill, an excavation in 1925 revealed one piece of walling that was exceptionally large for private building in Colchester. It stood 3ft high with three courses of tiles at the bottom, followed by two of rough septaria and two of tile alternately. It was 7ft 4" long, broken at both ends, and with a large piece of the original plaster in position. It stood on a red plaster floor 4" thick.<1>
