Full Description
During groundwork for a new day nursery in the grounds of East Hill House in 1983 (ECC526) several Roman and later features were discovered in addition to the main structures, burials and streets. A number of Roman mortar floors were uncovered as well as Roman pits and a midden layer. Later features included large post-medieval pits cut up to 1m deep into the natural sand and gravel and post Roman robber trenches of uncertain date (probably medieval).<1>
