Full Description
In 1848 John Taylor had West Lodge built and found the site to be in the middle of a Roman cemetery. After concerted investigation by Taylor forty cinerary urns were collected, in association with hundreds of other pottery vessels. A Roman road crossed Taylor's property and it is possible that the urns were situated either side of the Road and could have belonged to separate cemeteries.<1><2><3><4><5>
The following grave groups are attributed to 'West Lodge' or 'West Lodge Road': 514, 516, 517, 435, 199, 136, 81, 51, 36, 26.<6>
