Full Description
During trial excavations in the garden of No.22 Crouch Street, a group of four medieval and post-medieval pits were discovered beneath an accumulation of about 1 metre of topsoil. The pits were circa 15th to early 16th century in date and cut at least another metre of accumulated soil. There was no indication of the base of the topsoil which appears to have accumulated in what was a small valley between the northern end of Maldon Road and St Botolph's roundabout.<1>
