Full Description
During excavations at Culver Street between 1981-2 and 1984-5 (ECC337), an east-west footway of the post Boudican town was discovered. The footway was situated between the south side of a street (MCC733) and at two buildings on the north side of Insula 35. The footway was represented by two passages within different buildings (MCC922 and MCC963) which appeared to have been continuous at one time to form a public covered footway or veranda. The passage was later blocked by a north-south wall the character and function of which were obscure. The wall may have held a door in which case the passage could have continued as a thoroughfare.<1>
