Full Description
Churchyard surrounding St Mary the Virgin's Church, Wivenhoe.
Graveyard has been devastated and largely cleared with headstones leaned carelessly against boundary walls though a few monuments are in situ.<1>
A test pit evaluation on the south side of the Church was undertaken by Colchester Archaeological Trust in 2020 and defined ten in situ burials, c.0.75-1.20m in depth below ground level.<2>
