Description

The demolition of some houses in Vineyard Street together with the removal of outbuildings in the late summer of 1957 revealed the Roman wall where it runs parallel to Vineyard Street. Immediately to the rear of No.19 Vineyard Street an arched opening about two feet square was revealed which led to the excavations by members of CAG, who concluded it was a Roman drain.<1>
