Description

An excavation was carried out by Mr.Calver of Colchester Archaeological Group in a field along Lexden Road belonging to Mrs Reid. A large hole or pit was excavated which Mr. Calver thought was a Roman kiln pit, the kiln structure having been demolished.<1> A Mrs Reid is known to have owned Field 1081 off Lexden Road.<2>
