Description

In September 1965 a small trial trench was excavated in the garden north of Tudor Cottage, St Peter's Close. The natural subsoil lay only 18 inches beneath the modern ground level and the Roman deposits had been almost completely eroded away. The investigation did however reveal evidence of a floor from a house, probably destroyed during the Boudican revolt together with a robbed-out wall foundation of unknown date.<1>
