Description

In 1935 the old 'Wagon and Horses' on North Hill was pulled down and a new building erected further West. The former cellars were extended westwards and the earth to the south exposed (photograph of section is produced in 'Roman Colchester' plate XXXI). A possible palisade and wooden drain were recorded. See Hull for full Report <1> A number of photographs and information on finds are held in the paper SMR, for some reason these are dated 1938 although they appear to show the same section published by Hull <2>
