Description
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken in January 2018 during the groundworks for the erection of a kitchen extension (Colchester Borough Council planning application 171573). Drainage runs and services to the existing extension were revealed at the base of the dig depth and also the concrete foundation for the retaining wall of the flower bed. Foundations for the (demolished) vestry (identified as F1 during the Phase 1 investigations) were also removed. No archaeological remains were encountered.<1> This work followed initial investigations in November 2017.<2>
