Description

A historic asset assessment was produced by Leigh Alston in 2016 to support a planning application for a conversion of farm buildings (CBC planning application 172344).<1> The group comprises a three-bay stable with a large, detached shelter-shed to the east, both of which appear to be shown in 1811, and a brick and pantiled shelter-shed of the mid-19th century adjoining on the west. These three structures were converted into farm offices in the 1980s but retain much of their original fabric. A fourth structure to the south of the stable is separately listed at grade II (NHLE 1267339) as an open-sided cart lodge of ‘circa 1700’, but is conspicuous by its absence from the 1839 map and was built soon afterwards as an open-ended wagon shed rather than a cart lodge.
