Description

An excavation was carried out in response to a planning application for a bungalow against the western side of the tumulus. A small trench was excavated in the spring of 1973 to locate the ditch and thus define the extent of the barrow so that it could be preserved. No positive barrow ditch was located. A second trench was excavated just south of threatened area. Subsequent work by contractors revealed a burial group in under the pavement to the north of the mound.<1>
