Description
A magnetometer survey and a resistance survey was undertaken by David and Aline Black at Lodge Hills, Wormingford. The first survey was carried out using a FM 18 fluxgate gradiometer, with four 30 x 30m grids surveyed. The area was then resurveyed using a TR Systems resistance meter. Two linear features, aligned SW to NE, are probably the remains ditches, possibly enclosure boundaries. Also, the possible foundations of a rectangular building, indicated by an area of high resistance about 15m long; the possible ditches appear to sweep in and join the edges of the rectangular feature - possibly some kind of formal enclosure or approach way leading up to the lodge. A circular and low resistance area might the remains of a pit or well.<1>
