Description

Archaeological monitoring was undertaken in June 2016 during groundworks relating to the construction of two storey office/shop unit (CBC planning application 160112). The monitoring revealed two ditches (1003 and 1005) in section in opposing footing trenches. It is probable these constitute the same feature. One sherd of Samian pottery (retained by the owner) and a fragment of CBM was recovered from ditch 1005, giving the feature a date of early to mid/late 2nd century AD.<1>
