Description

Crossan, C Construction of the nurses home. An area of c.200sq m was stripped by machine. In the SE corner of the site Roman levels were exposed. To the W sand sealed by substantial deposit of burnt daub and charcoal. The most noteable feature was a short wall foundation of solid mortar running N-S immediately E of the burnt material. This evidence all points to the site of a Roman building c.100m E of the site of a presumed Romano-Celtic temple (Colchester Temple 7).
