The late historian James Fawn recorded his investigations on the origin of the name of the medieval Dunbarr Gate in Museum Street. This work documents links with several individuals who lived in the vicinity in the 17th-18th century. Th ename is attributed to the Dunbarr family, no earlier than the latter half of the 17th century. <1>
