Description

Three (Stage 1b) trial trenches were excavated on a site previously occupied by the Colchester Garrison married quarters. This work revealed modern foundations in two of the three trenches. The only significant archaeological feature was an undated (probably prehistoric or Roman) ditch F1, aligned N to S, in T1. Only post-medieval pottery was recovered, a piece of clay tobacco-pipe stem and a CU ring (post-medieval or modern). <1>
