Description

Two trial trenches (both 40m long x 1.6m wide) were excavated by Colchester Archaeological Trusts in advance of the excavation of an attenuation pond in the SE corner of Abbey Field. Two parallel ditches were defined, one Roman and the second which was undated but probably Roman. They are interpreted as being the west and east ditches of a north-south aligned Roman track way. <1>
