Description

A watching brief was undertaken during the installation of drains for a new car park adjoining the Colchester Institute, on part of the Sheepen Scheduled Ancient Monument. 15 sherds of Late Iron Age -Early Roman pottery was recovered along with 3 pieces of animal bone, and a number of features were observed, including at least one ditch and possible pits.<1>
