Description

Three sections were dug across the ditch of the dyke. The ditch was found to be 25ft wide. It appeared to be unusually shallow (4-5ft) in two of the trenches but more as might be expected in the third (no depth given). Pottery near the assumed base of the ditch in Trench 2 was thought at the time to be Anglo-Saxon but is now dated to the Iron Age.<1><2><3>
