Description

In 1912 an important collection of material was purchased from Mr H.Money which he claimed had been recovered from the Brickyard south of Turner Road in 1889. At this time the brickyard was confined to the north side of the railway. The collection appeared to be from mixed up grave groups and included objects of glass, jet, gold, bronze and ceramic. Hull was suspicious of the origin of these objects however he comments 'on the other hand the objects are not faked, although it must be admitted that one vessel had to be excluded as apparently Indian. The remainder however are good enough and must have been found somewhere. Wherever it was, they would probably appear equally strange'.<1> COLEM 1912.2495-2509 <2>
