Description

A Roman rubbish pit was observed when cutting the foundations for 94 Lexden Road (A note by Hull records the house was built for Mrs Coats-Hutton and the almanac lists her at 94). The contents of the pit were dated to AD 43-60 (see reference for full description). According to Hull ' The unexcavated portion of this pit is under the E bow-window on the south side of the house'.<1>
