Description

At the site for the Telephone Managers Office , West Stockwell Street, Museum staff and members of a local archaeological society rescued first century pottery and recorded associated burnt levels prior to building on this site in 1964. (The Archaeological Research Group, under the direction of Mr J. Blyth excavated a part of the site before building operations commenced. See ECC950) <1>'More interesting were a number of pre-Flavian clay lamps and lamp-moulds which Mr. Blyth recovered from burnt layers in contractors excavations.'<2> Blake planned the remains observed during this work.<3>
