Description

A tessellated pavement was found in the basement of the Italian restaurant, No (Missing from report, probably 13) Queen Street in March 1966 and was quickly covered up again. It probably came from the same house that was partly excavated by the Colchester Excavation Committee later in the same year. Part of a massive masonry building was revealed with two hypocausts associated with its third and final phase. It was dated from the second to fourth century.<1>
