Description

A stone coffin was found near Burlington Road, it was 'made of large stones from the cornice of a public building'.<1> In Hull's 'Roman Colchester' this coffin seems to be mixed up with a lead coffin also found in Burlington Road as Hull's No 54 and the TEAS reference given both relate to the latter. The stone coffin relates to Hulls Grave Group No 375 'stone coffin found in Burlington Road, given by Mr G.Joslin, date uncertain, but before March 5th 1897'.<2> See also <3> and a more detailed summary in <4>.
