Description

In the summer of 1965 during excavation on the site of Williams & Griffin’s store for a new basement, a tessellated floor was found. Only a small corner was exposed, and the site had been too badly disturbed for it to be possible to decide what sort of structure it had been associated with. It lay on a make up of yellow sandy clay apparently lying on a rough gravel surface. There was no dating evidence for the floor. <1>
