Description
DEDHAM HIGH STREET 1. 5214 (north side) Shermans TM 0533 26/31 23.6.52 GV I 2. Built circa 1735. Two storeys and attics with basement. Elaborate Suffolk brick front with ornate red dressings pilasters and dentil cornice. Roof T-plan, one red brick chimney at rear. Central niche with Ionic pilasters and pediment on first floor. Parapet ramped up to contain a painted sundial at its centre. Two window range of small paned sashes with aprons and arches of rubbed brick. Central doorcase with dentilled pediment and Corinthian pilasters, above a flight of steps. Front modelled on that of east wing of Grammar School B1732, but is more elaborate. Inside: contemporary panelling and staircase.
