Description

STANWAY LONDON ROAD 1. 5214 (north side) ) Beaconend Farmhouse TL 92 SE 12/1 II* 2. Originally C14 hall house with 2 crosswings. Timber framed, clad in C18 red brick, with red plain tile roof. Crosswings originally jettied and gabled, C18 alterations underbuilt jetty and hipped roofs. Three window range, C18 double hung vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars. Gauged brick arches. One hipped dormer. C18 pediment doorcase with foliated frieze and moulded jowls. Early C14 west wing, with C16 crown post roof. Late C14 central hall with early C16 inserted chimney stack, with cambered mantel beam, and late C16 inserted first floor. Original crown post roof remains, with 2 tall octagonal posts with chamfered bases and capitals. East crosswing is also late C14 with an original doorway, jowled storey posts, and crown post roof.
