Abstract/Summary

The Stanway site was excavated between 1987 and 2003 in advance of its destruction for sand and gravel extraction. It lay on the outskirts of the modern town of Colchester, on the fringe of the Late Iron Age and Roman oppidum of Camulodunum. It appears to have been the burial place of members of a high-status Catuvellaunian family.
