A magnetometer survey of 80 hectares of land north of Hardy’s Green, Essex has recorded a couple of magnetic responses that have been interpreted as being of archaeological interest. A partial enclosure and a couple of pit-like anomalies have been detected which correspond to cropmarks. Numerous other anomalies have been assigned to the category of uncertain and are likely to be due to relatively modern agricultural processes, though some near to a postulated Roman Road could be of interest. Former field boundaries and land drains have been recorded in the dataset plus the route of a service pipe has been marked.
