Full Description

The County Series at 1:2500 scale Epoch 1a (1874-87) has 'St Peters Well' marked, also marked on the modern OS (TM 00728 12433).

There is a photograph of St Peters Well on the Website of Mersea Museum: http://www.merseamuseum.org.uk/mmphoto.php?pid=SS050030&hit=631&tot=642&typ=cat&syn=all [accessed 10/08/16], showing a group of men sitting on a bank behind a timber-lined well, taken after the earthquake on 14 April 1884.

Now restored, but covered with timber. A bronze plate was added in 2000 by the Town Council Millennium Committee. Accessible via a board walk path from the Coast Road.
