Full Description
Windells Farm is a historic farmstead located to the northwest of the settlement of Great Tey. It is first shown on the 1897-1904 Epoch 2 map to be a detached site made up of five buildings. Over 70% of the original buildings survive, including the Grade II listed late C16 farmhouse, Windells (LB Number: 1223214), and the Grade II listed late C17 barn to the east of Windells (LB Number: 1223254). The other buildings were demolsihed between 1904 and 1972. The site split in half around 1981 as the barn became a separate dwelling to the farmhouse. There is one modern building on the site, which is believed to be a double garage. The original map shows three farm ponds spread around the site. These historic landscape features survive. <1>
